dMAT FAQ: Common Questions Answered (APS India, 2026)
Last updated 2026-07-16
Do I actually need to take the dMAT?
Only if your previous degree falls under Engineering, Commerce/Accounting/Finance/Economics, or Business/Management, and you're applying for a Summer Semester 2027 intake or later. Check the eligibility page and the full affected fields list to confirm your specific degree.
Who administers the dMAT — APS India or someone else?
g.a.s.t. handles all registration, payment, test delivery and certificate issuance. APS India only requires the resulting certificate as part of your documentation — it does not run the test itself.
I registered with APS or shipped my documents before the dMAT was announced. Am I affected?
No. Applicants who completed APS online registration or shipped physical application documents on or before 29 June 2026 are exempt under APS India's transitional rules, as are applicants who already hold an APS certificate.
Will a low dMAT score get my APS application rejected?
No. APS India has stated the dMAT is not a stand-alone pass/fail test within the APS process. A low score does not by itself cause your certificate to be refused — see how scoring works for the full picture.
How long is a dMAT certificate valid?
Indefinitely. Unlike language certificates, there's no expiry window that forces a retake.
What does the dMAT cost?
The exam fee is €150, paid directly to g.a.s.t. during registration — separate from the APS certification fee paid to APS India.
Does taking the dMAT confirm my degree is recognized in Germany?
No. It doesn't replace or override your institution's anabin recognition status, and it doesn't substitute for APS India's own document verification. See how the dMAT fits into your APS application.
Can I submit my APS documents before I have my dMAT certificate?
Yes — preliminary verification can start in parallel. But your final APS certificate isn't issued until the dMAT certificate is submitted and cross-checked, and no further academic documents can be added at that stage.
